Frisbee Golf
at Camp DeForest
There are few things more satisfyingly camp-like than throwing a frisbee through the woods and calling it a sport. Camp DeForest’s Frisbee Golf Course is a casual, three-hole, self-guided course laid out around the Camp grounds for guests looking for a little fresh air, friendly competition, or an excuse to settle a score.
No experience required. No caddies. No country-club rules. Just grab a disc and go.
Hit the Course
Our course winds its way around Camp DeForest, with each hole presenting its own combination of trees, terrain, questionable angles, and opportunities for spectacularly misguided throws. The object is simple: start at the designated tee and get your disc into the basket in as few throws as possible. Play the whole course, squeeze in a few holes before dinner, or invent your own scoring system. We’re not the PGA. But we do have PDGA approved baskets!

Play SAFELY
Frisbee golf is played outdoors on natural, uneven terrain and involves the ordinary risks associated with recreational activities, including slips, trips, falls, errant discs, trees, rocks, roots, changing weather, and other natural conditions. Please play responsibly, remain aware of other guests, and supervise children at all times.
Participation is voluntary and at your own risk. By using our course, you acknowledge and accept the inherent risks of frisbee golf and outdoor recreation. Please see our Reservations Policy & Camp Rules for complete terms and conditions governing use of the course.

How to Play
Start each hole from the marked tee and throw toward the basket. Wherever your disc lands becomes the spot for your next throw. Keep going until your disc lands in the basket.
Count each throw as one stroke. The player with the fewest strokes at the end of the course wins.
That’s really about it.
COURSE Rules
Frisbee golf is meant to be easygoing, but a few rules keep it fun for everyone:
The course opens at 8am and closes at dark. Only registered guests may play.
Give other players, guests, buildings, cars, windows, wildlife, and anything else you would rather not hit plenty of room before throwing.
Do not throw towards buildings or cars.
You are responsible for any damage for a mis-throw.
Wait until the group ahead has cleared the hole.
Please play from the designated tees and toward the designated baskets.
Keep an eye out for other guests using the grounds and always give pedestrians the right of way.
Leave trees, plants, rocks, and other natural features exactly where you found them.
Retrieve wayward discs only when it is safe to do so.
Children should be appropriately supervised.
Please return borrowed discs when you are finished.
A Few Tips from the Rangers
You do not have to throw it like a frisbee. Backhands, forehands, overhands, rollers, and whatever that thing was you just attempted are all legitimate possibilities.
Accuracy beats power. A heroic 200-foot drive directly into a pine tree remains, technically, a throw.
Watch the wind. Frisbees have opinions about where they would like to go.
Trees are part of the course. They are not moving. Plan accordingly.
Keep score—or don’t. We’re not checking.
Good to Know
The course is outdoors on natural terrain, so expect uneven ground, roots, rocks, leaves, mud, insects, and the occasional distinctly Maine obstacle. Conditions vary with weather and season. Closed-toe shoes are recommended.
Course availability may occasionally be affected by weather, maintenance, private events, or other activities taking place around Camp.
