LINCOLNVILLE, Maine (WABI) - One getaway spot on the coast of Maine has new life thanks to a local couple.

Camp DeForest, a hotel, is now open in Lincolnville.

“We wanted to invest in the area, we live in Northport, and we probably watched way too much Schitt’s Creek and Hotel Makeover during the pandemic and decided it would be a good idea to buy a 1950s motor lodge and cabins. And what we thought would be a quick redecoration turned into a three-year remodel,” said Jessica Brim-DeForest, owner of Camp DeForest.

The couple says that the campground had some heavy damage that they’ve been fixing for the past few years.

“Completely gutted it. Practically every aspect of it is new from foundation to roof to plumbing,” Brim-DeForest said.

While everything may be new, they kept the aesthetic of a campground from 75 years ago.
