I made three important stops during this long drive: first for the lemon-herb chicken salad toast at LB. Kitchen in Portland, second for a fun puzzle at Midcoast Creative Studio in Wiscasset and third for a glass of natural wine inside the rustic-chic barn at Oyster River Winegrowers in Warren. From there, it was only a short drive to Camp DeForest, my home base for the next two nights. Camp DeForest is akin to an adult summer camp, complete with lawn games, firepits, kayaks, retro-style rooms and a masterfully curated camp store.
