Camp DeForest has been named in Down East magazine's Best of Maine, in the Hotels and Resorts category, and we'd love your nomination.
Down East's Best of Maine is now in its 19th year, and it's one of the most beloved reader-driven traditions in the state. From bookstores to breweries, farmers' markets to festivals, the poll celebrates the Maine businesses and organizations that people genuinely love. It's a recognition of places with real roots, real people, and real character. No national chains. Just Maine.
This round, running now through April 12, is the nomination phase. Readers write in their picks across 65 categories, and the most-nominated entries move on to a final multiple-choice ballot in May. Getting to that final round is the goal.
We opened in spring of 2025 with a simple belief: that the woods make everything better. That there's something restorative about sitting by a fire, waking up slow, and remembering what quiet sounds like. A little over a year in, we're still moved every time a camper tells us their stay was exactly what they needed.
